*sigh* I've been wanting to make a post here for days now naming some of my favorite unconventional pairings. I even had one completely typed up...but my LJ ate it. *shrug*

Anyway, here's an incomplete/edited version...

Emma/Beast
Penance/Anyone *dear mercy please*
Rogue/Nightcrawler (anyverse)
Bobby/Kitty (comicverse, not movieverse)
Rogue/Juggernaut. (yes please!)
Charles/Jean (not as unconventional as it seems, methinks)

There is more, much more...but this is as good a start as any.

I really would love to see this community thrive. THRIVE it must!

Actually, my whole Juggernaut/Rogue fascination is the fault of Ultimate X-Men. When both the characters were introduced they were being kept by 'Weapon X'...in the same cell. *wibbles* There were just 2-3 pages with any sort of dialogue, etc...but they were enough to convert me to the pairing for life.

I then made it a quasi-mission to find Juggernaut/Rogue interaction in 616 universe. There isn't much that doesn't involve ass-kicking. There IS a panel of from an old Uncanny that turns my knees to jello though...from back in the day when Rogue would actually KISS people to neutralize them. The panels are great...she sort of just jumps on his chest, wraps her legs around and clings. *fans self* I want a scanner so badly sometimes.

I'm basically a Rogue 'shipper (as long as it ISN'T with Gambit). Part of me misses the days when she used her absorbing powers offensively...it made for some great comic kisses! My favorite such kiss (as perch_and_creep and I have discussed this topic many times) was Rogue/Thing from the X-Men vs. Fantastic Four mini set almost immediately after the Morlock Massacre. There is no sadder comic kiss moment...I cry every time.

Anywho...enough Rogue blather. I'd love to see Juggernaut get more fic time. When Chuck Austen first took over Uncanny (the 'Hope' storyline), I was seduced into thinking his writing wouldn't be too terrible...mostly because my eyes were too dazzled by the promise of Cain. I had such high hopes.

Now that I'm thinking of it...do you know whether or not Cain will remain in the lineup when Austen is finally shot and his body is removed from our sight? I'd be sad to see him (Jugg) go. I'd love for someone to write him who actually too X-Men Forever into account (Austen tried...but he's Austen).

*clears throat* Same goes for Bobby, actually.

I've blathered. Oh Lordy I've blathered again. *tapes mouth shut before she realizes this has little to no effect on her fingers*

Well, the 'Weapon X' storyline was set between issues 8-12...I think>. I'd say issue 9 or 10. *nods*

Ultimate Rogue renewed my Rogue-love. 616 Rogue has been messed with SO much (not to mention painted into a Cajun corner) that it's really refreshing to have so many canon alternate versions.

But yes. The Weapon X story Arc was one of the best of Millar's run on the book...and the Rogue/Cain vibes I picked up on were huge enough to even wring some fic out of me. I really hate how Juggernaut was left unexplored in the Ultimate line. Bah.

And I totally see Charles/Jean in movieverse.

Heh! That's funny because Nightcrawler dates his actual adoptive sister in the comics. I remember that I used to giggle every time Nightcrawler referred to Kitty as his sister. I was all, "Heh, he's hitting on her." Poor Kitty, never even knew what was really going on.

When Rogue first joined the X-men on 'X-men: Evolution,' I actually thought that Nigthcrawler had a thing for her. Somehow, I had managed to miss his canon crush on Kitty.
